Hello and thanks for taking an interest in our music!
In the tradition of other bands like The Eurhythmics, Everything but the Girl, Frou Frou and The White Stripes, the band started with just 2 of us. Ayumi Meegan is the innovative vocalist and lyricist of the group who helps to set the mood with her evocative lyrics and interesting subject matter and J.Christopher Thomas is the award-winning arranger, writer and multi-instrumentalist that cooked up the sounds that support the lyrics.
However, we decided to create a full band and so, rounding out the band, Ed Pym, formerly of the band, "Great Lakes", joined on keyboards and guitar in early 2007. Shortly thereafter, Gabe Wan joined on bass followed by Gil Guinan, formerly of "Lullaby Crush", on drums.
The resulting music is warm and familiar like the the modern rock you know and love yet defies easy categorization. From the Alt-country/Mazzy Star-ish, "Come Home to Me", to the Queen/Imogen Heap vocal showcase, "ThanQ" to the Dido/Sia-inspired ambient pop rock of "Lookaround", the first single, the music of 28people is never predictable; never boring.
We're based in the San Francisco Bay Area and this is our debut EP. We hope to record many more CDs and expand our fanbase beyond the SF Bay Area but in order to do that we need your support so listen to the music and purchase a CD.
Here are (mostly) unsolicited testimonials about the music of Ayumi and Christopher from people who've listened and enjoyed: (Feel free to add your own review)
"Excellent CD! Like bubbles newly introduced to wind, learning how to dance and twirl. Terrific use of vocals."
B. Bhaktiari
"As for your style, let me put it this way, I come from what some may consider A pretty rough side of Detroit, and when I listen to your stuff I'm not on the ruff side anymore. Thanks for the experience!"
The Angel
"It appears to go from strength to strength with more ideas in one track than the last 6 albums that I've listened to. I dont review anything that has no appeal for me so STHBA is full of stuff I consider to be worth it's weight in gold..."
Kev Aldersay
She Took His Breath Away" Magazine
"Subtly evocative songs with a deceptively hard core, sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall, glass of wine in hand, listening to the EP is definitely one of the better ways to spend a half-hour"
Jeremy Searle

"...rainy day ballads for shaky hearts and soundscapes for real moments"
