notes
This is the first album of a three part series which is a history of the roots of blues piano.
The period of widespread popularity for blues music began around 1909 and continued until the mid 1920s. This period saw blues rise from obscurity to a national craze, yet the piano part of this history is little known today. This cd brings that long lost music back to life. Eleven pages of notes to the music add much historical information.
This is a hi-quality recording of a fine grand piano performed by artists who are tops in this style of music. Midi files are available. Artists included are: Richard Zimmerman, Tamas Ittzes, Gale Foehner, Mike Montgomery, Trebor Tichenor, Molly Kaufman, Tom Briar, Elliott Adams, David Thomas Roberts and Scott Kirby.

Fantastic Piano Music
author: Rosemary MaxeyNot a "not so good" song on this CD. Every artist was great, as was each selection played.
A delightful exploration of early blues for solo-piano!
author: Edouard LagacheWhile this music is instrumental blues, it is akin to ragtime and early jazz. This album is a splendid collection of blues for solo-piano. Every track is a wonderfully played and captures the many moods of blues. Anyone who enjoys instrumental music from the early 1900s owes it to themselves to checkout to this collection!
