Smart acoustic pop for anyone who is a parent or has a parent... The ultimate baby shower gift.

notes

This record is not just for new parents.

If I Never Sleep Again is the fourth cd from award winning singer-songwriter Brian Joseph, and was produced by Joseph and "...one of the brilliant architects of the American Folk-Rock movement," Kenny Edwards.

Yes, it's a must-have for expectant and new parents. Yes, it's the perfect baby shower gift. And ok, yes... all of the songs have something to do with the experience of having a child. But the album, featuring some of the top session players from around the country, is an eclectic mix of material, from the hooky, rockin' "If I Never Sleep Again," to the R&B tinged "Baby Looks Good", to the old-time folky "Eli's Song," to hypnotic and moody "Alpha and Omega." This record is really about music, first and foremost.

Brian Joseph is the winner of the Telluride Troubador Competition, The New Folks Showcase, and has appeared on festival stages everywhere. The Oakland Tribune calls him "an actor, singer and songwriter of the first order," and Folkworld Magazine says he's "Randy Newman meets Los Lobos." Listen to this cd, and discover for yourself the "exquisite tenderness and laugh-out-loud lyrics" of a rising star in the acoustic world.

  • Fabulous...both funny and touching.
    author: Jennifer

I saw Brian perform at the Storyhill CD release show in Minneapolis. I loved his songs. My niece is having her first baby in about a month, so I thought this CD would be a perfect addition to her baby present.

  • A touching, funny CD that has become my favorite gift for others.
    author: Mary Pat Moeller

I am a grandmother, so I enjoy this CD on several levels. I buy it for expectant couples (who LOVE it) and I listen to it again and again. High points for musicality and fun, enjoyable, tender lyrics!

  • My 3y.o. and I saw Brian perform 140x live and I was moved to tears
    author: Lucinda

I was with my 3.yr old daughter in the Grand Lake park when we saw Brian perform 140x live. She was dancing in front of the stage all alone, and I was sitting in the crowd with tears running down my face. Of course I went home with a signed copy of If I Never Sleep Again and love it. Every time I hear it I go back to that sunny day in the park. Great CD!

  • I am a 57 year old grandmother and was very touched by many of the songs on this
    author: tami schwartz

This CD touches the emotions from very funny to very poignet, I've shared it with my daughters and plan to send a CD to my friend who is an expectant grandmother of twins!

  • Babies and Teenagers
    author: John Swanson

My youngest baby is nearly 18 now, and I still remember my own versions of all the stories that Brian sings. It is important to remember those beginning moments, because they help you get through the teen age years.

  • Great cd. If you have children you can relate.

  • Loved this CD!
    author: Kris Reiber

I've been waiting for this CD ever since seeing Brian at the Kate Wolf Folk Festival. The crowd loved the few off this CD that we got to hear that day and I'm so pleased the whole CD is a keeper. I'm ordering one for my daughter and her husband right now. They're expecting their first. Great gift for new parents and old ones like me.

  • Heartwarming and hip...it can be done!
    author: Treasure Camero (singer/songwriter Maryland)

Heartwarming and hip...it can be done! I waited impatiently for 2 of the songs on this CD ever since I heard them live(140x & Making Love). The entire CD was worth the wait!

  • Best love song for a pregnant wife ever.
    author: Rex Strother

From the first Jackson Brown-esque track to "140x" to my personal fave "Baby Looks Good on You" (best love song for a pregnant wife, perhaps ever), this is an album for everybody that has a child or still feels like a child. Brian manages to deliver serious emotions with humor, in just the right combination. See him live for a real treat - I mean, who plays the ukelele anymore?

  • heartfelt without bleeding, remembers where babies come from
    author: Susan M-K

After hearing him at Club Passim's campfire, I waited months to get this cd and am now playing it for all my intelligent music-loving friends - one who already wants to cover it. Brian speaks for parents, with his still-young and still-sensually-alive heart and has added a few songs he didn't write that fit tight. Thank you, Brian. Worth the wait.

  • Great C.D.
    author: Colleen

I really loved this c.d. Brian and I intend on buying more copies to send to all of my brothers and sisters who have children. It was worth waiting for!

  • sweet, touching and funny
    author: Wendy

This cd is amazing...Brian's music is so wonderful. He can make you laugh and cry in the same song. He puts into music, feelings that we all have...so human. So tender. A keeper.

  • Buy it! Fabulous, upbeat, sleepless perfection.
    author: Monique

    - Been around babies? - Seen the way they can mesmerize a crowd of otherwise free-thinking adults? - Ever noticed the attraction they have, despite sleepless nights and all the yellow poo? If you answered "yes" to even ONE of these questions, then "If I Never Sleep Again" is for you. Or your friends. Your friends who seem to all, suddenly, be having babies. Babies everywhere! Yahoo! At least YOU have THE PERFECT shower gift. Fantastic rhythms, innovative lyrics, and just a whole darn lot of fun make this cd one I'll keep buying forever. FOREVER!

  • Lives up to all expectations!! Terrific.
    author: Ruth

Brian's new CD is just as good or better than the last several. His sensitivity, humor, musicianship, etc. shine through, as always. As a folk music lover and parent, the CD is currently on my most-often listened to list. He GETS IT!! Congratulations on another masterpiece.

  • Brian's best work to date. BUY THIS NOW! BUY 5!
    author: Dani B

It has been said, but this is the PERFECT shower or baby gift! I started with 3 and they are already all gone. This is Brian's finest album to date. The production quality is outstanding. Personal favorites include 140x and Alpha and Omega although each song is a perfect nugget. Now for the real question. . .how do I get MY kids names on the back of the liner notes? Seriously, you're gonna laugh, you're gonna cry. You gotta buy IF I NEVER SLEEP AGAIN. PS - It is not just for parents!

  • author: CD Baby

I'm not even a parent and the sweetness and tenderness of these songs nearly brought me to tears. In a beautifully arranged 11-track folk pop album, Brian Joseph sings songs of parenthood, so perfectly capturing a parent's feelings and journeys through joy of watching their child grow, fear of screwing up and saying the wrong thing, and hope and inspiration for the ways their child reminds them how beautiful life is. With equal emotional weight in the lyrics and melodies, "If I Never Sleep Again" is undoubtedly a must for new parents or those expecting. Every song is deeply felt, deeply honest and so openly humble that you can't help but love every minute. It absolutely captures the magic, the beauty, the spirituality and the sacredness of parenthood.
