notes
The debut album by Bill Carleton, titled "As Promised" is a set of songs meant to provide hope and understanding during tough times. All twelve songs were written during the course of three months late-summer, 2003 -- and they embrace the feelings behind heartbreak, family, long-distance relationships, friendships and love. The album tells an honest story, written at the time for self-preservation. Now it's something that will hopefully help others, and if not, solid melodies will still be there to listen to.
Born and raised in Connecticut -- Bill graduated from the University of Delaware in 2001 where he played both solo and band gigs at large venues such as the Stone Balloon, Klondike Kate's, The East End Cafe and The Brickyard. Bill's career has made several shifts ranging from being a Senior Editor for ieMagazine (formerly GameWEEK) to a Social Services Director at a skilled nursing facility. Up until the summer-2003, Bill's music was kept on the backburner. When he had a break up with his girlfriend of 3+ years and his mom was diagnosed with cancer all in a month's time, songwriting was the only way to start to cope with it all. Since then, Bill's music has been a priority in his life, while his jobs sustain his dreams.
Bill Carleton has packed pure acoustic and electric energy with the songs on his debut album -- coming from influences such as Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, U2, Steely Dan, Sting, The Eagles and Counting Crows.

"As Promised" presents music that everyone can relate to and is quite charming. The artist's motivation and skill shines through each song on the album, thus making it a true work of art. "Breathe" is amazing; my personal favorite thus far. Keep it up Bill!!
A culmination of hard work and talent!!
author: David CrispinoBy far the best quality music that I have heard in home recording ever! Bill has truely mastered his craft on the production side as well as the creative aspect.

author: MikeAs Promised channels passionate emotions through outstanding lyrics and powerful acoustic work. One can really feel what Bill was feeling while making the album, in its fullness. Great job Bill, I'm glad you delivered this fine art masterpiece. Heart, Powell
The Nova Scotian gives it 2 thumbs up!
author: Tim BurkeAs Promised was a suiting title for the album as the artist continually promissed the album would be out very soon. The presentation is very cool! The cd, case and lyrics are all professional in appearence and sound. The songs are organized perfectly. It was refreshing to finally put a cd in the player that was as wholesome as it was enjoyable. Nice Job Bill! Yours Truly, Tim
Lose yourself in emotions everyone can relate to!
author: Christy (:Having seen the development of these songs from bare-bones acoustic to fully produced I am thrilled to listen to the quality of this album. As Promised has no filler songs. All 12 tracks are solid and have purpose on this album. Filled with emotions that everyone can relate to Bill sings about pain, hope, friendship, and perhaps in the most powerful song, Stephanie, about love and moving on. This CD is an exceptional collection of songs that make an excellent soundtrack for everyday life.
Extreme Talent
author: MicheleSeeing how Bill's music has grown in leaps and bounds over the years, this impressive c.d. shows him at his most vulnerable and it's quite beautiful. The open, raw honesty of his lyrics can be related to on many levels and the overall musicianship is tremendous.
Great listening and muscianship
author: JeanAS PROMISED is just great listening. Bill sings about things that everyone can relate to and his muscianship is impressive. His James Taylor singing style is supported by layers of instrumental background that gently carry the lyrics. Easy listening over and over again.
Gotta love promises
author: MikeyThe first time that I listened to this CD, was right before I went to bed one misty night. I was looking for some smooth music with lyrics that I can relate to give my dreams a good kick in the ass. About twelve tracks later I had to get up and press play again to restart the CD. That never happens. I can’t believe how good the acoustics sound and how well each track has something special in it. This CD was much better than I had expected and just can’t get enough of it when I’m in an acoustic mood!
great quality work
author: bryanVery good quality cd. Will have you listening for a long time. I know I wont get tired of this cd like all the others I buy. Not only are the songs great to listen to, they also have underlying meanings which everyone can relate to. This is a cd you definitely should buy and not pass up!
Great cd for any occasion...
author: DerekI got a copy of this cd a few weeks ago and I must say it's a great little number. Good musicianship; and good, meaningful lyrics written by Bill himself. My favorite song is "Moments Of Serendipity". I have to be honest and say that this particular genre of music isn't my favorite, but, having listened to other stuff of the same genre, this is just as good if not better than any mainstream or well known stuff that you might find. Check it out!
