The most important thing to check first is the date and time on your computer--the current date and time are approximately:

If your computer's clock is significantly different from the current time in your timezone, cookies won't work. If you have a mobile phone, check the time on your computer against the phone--the phone is usually correct.

Cookies also won't work if they're disabled in your web browser. Search Google for "enable.cookies" with your web browser's name added on. We could give you instructions here but they'd be out of date before we knew it.

Tip: you will get better results if you put the version number of your browser in the search string, too. On PCs (Windows or Linux), you can usually find the version number by looking in the "Help" menu for an entry that starts with "About". On Mac OS X, you can find a similar "About" entry in the program's menu--the menu directly to the right of the Apple in the very upper left corner that says your web browser's name.
