Cowboys, Guitars, And A Little Bit of Swing is Kata Hay's third CD. With great skill she blends Western Swing, Country and Jazz into a unique style that is truly her own. Western music fans will love her renditions of Cattle Call and Navajo Trail, while Kata steps up her songwriting prowess with fun original swing tunes like 'Biggest Heart in Texas' and 'Who Needs a Cowboy (When I Got This Old Guitar)'. All in all this is a CD that anyone can enjoy and Kata Hay could be just the artist that brings Western Swing back into the mainstream.
Bio*
Kata Hay started singing at the age of 2 years old. By 5, Kata had many performances under her belt and was soon informed that she had been accepted to Star Search '93... She went to Florida, appeared on Ed McMahon's Star Search, and took ten thousand dollars home with her! She won the WHOLE thing! Not only that, but Kata is the youngest person EVER to win Star Search! After Star Search, things really started booming for her, she was opening for many major artists, and making tons of appearances... At age 9 she made a movie called "Oklahoma Faded Love" and at 9, she made her first recording, "Oklahoma Baby" which is no longer for sale.... By the age of 10, she had started yodeling and playing guitar (Which would soon become one of her main passions)... She won the 1997 Oklahoma Opry Horizon Award, which was previously won by Bryan White... She is also the youngest person ever to receive that award... In 2000, Kata started moving towards Western Music, and won "Patsy Montana National Yodeling Championship" which gave her the opportunity to go to Fan Fair... In 2001, she won WMA International Yodeling Championship, and made her second recording "On My Way To Nashville"... Also in 2001, she won the Oklahoma Opry's Female Vocalist Under 16 award.... She also won that in 2002, and 2003 , she is also the 2003 WMA International Yodeling Champion... In 2002 she made her 2nd cd, HIGH IN THE SADDLE which was widely sucsessful... She was nominated in the top 5 in 2003 for the AWA's "Rising Star" and "Yodeler of the Year" awards... A great honor, seeing as how this was her first year in the orginization... She is a member of the Oklahoma Opry Hall of Fame... She was also the National Old Time Music Association's SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR of 2003... In 2004 she was awarded, along with Ms Pat Boilson the "Harmony Champion's" award from the WMA! Kata took her musical escapades across the ocean in early 2004, to the 'Land Down Under', BEAUTIFUL Australia!!! She appeared on all the biggest shows there, with such Australian ledgends as the Kernighan's and Smokey Dawson just to name a couple... Kata returned to Aus in 2005, and was even more successful... In July of 2004 Kata opened up the Academy of Western Artist Awards with her original song "Biggest Heart in Texas" and brought the house down, then later that night took home the GREAT honor of the RISING STAR award... Kata's new cd "Cowboys, Guitars, and a Lil Bit Of Swing" was released just shortly after and is rising up the Western Music Charts... Kata is just 18, and much has been left out of this Bio, for room's sake, but much is yet to come....

author: Terry NashI liked Canyon Del Diablo the best
THE NEXT REBA
author: Kirk W. BolandKata's CD showcases her talent to perform any type of song. Unlike so many other singers that can only do studio work, Kata is GREAT with just her own voice and playing guitar. This CD is a Must Have. Secondly, if you get a chance to see her "live", please go. I thought her red hair would catch on fire. BOLAND MUSIC "For Those That Serve", www.kirkwboland.com
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED CD
author: Jay TilstonThis album of contemporary Western Swing comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The production is excellent, Kata's youthful voice is superb and the songs she wrote on the album are top-notch, the choice of cover songs too are great - all in all 5 out of 5!
What a great CD!!
author: LN HarwellI purchased this CD almost two months ago, and it has rarely left my Cd player! Miss Kata showcases her yodeling talents in slow ballards and fast pick-me-up tunes alike. Each of the songs on the CD are unique in some way, some fun and spunky, some classic (in a western way ;~)), and some just plain sweet! Thanks for the great sounds that I can (and do) play over and over again!!
keep on singing kata great talent
author: Richie Lynni now have all your cds don't stop now. how about a nice gospel cd. your voice is a gift from God
finally, real country music
author: LesI haven't listened to country music in 10 years, it's gotten so bad. Then I found Kata Hay's cd by accident and took a chance. If you like pre 90's country, or swing music, or western swing, than buy this album. Well produced, great songs, and man what a voice.
Wow
author: Dave BarnhartThe first track is one that even my C&W-hating friend loves. It mixes in a little jazz and blues and is like no other western swing I've ever heard. Until Our Trails Meet Again is a particularly original and moving spin on a line from that old Roy Rogers tune. This one stays in my iPod.
Bridging the old and the new!!
author: Dustin JonesKata Hay has outdone herself. This is such a wonderful listen because of Kata’s ability to bring a fresh new energy to western music. The old folks and the young folks alike will have something to enjoy on this CD. I listen to it all the time, and I enjoy it every time I pop it in. Don’t think you’re a western fan? Give this CD a try and see if Kata doesn’t change your mind.
The singing, songwriting and musicianship displayed on this CD are truly outstan
author: Ryan MartinKata has displayed a great deal of talent and maturity not only vocally, but lyrically, and musically as well. Which are wonderfully complimented by the artistic ear of Dustin Jones. The production on this CD is fantastic. Every one of the musicians did a first rate job. (the guitar and piano parts especially are just killer!!!) My personal faves are; Canyon Del Diablo, Twilight Serenade and Western Way. Any fan of western swing is gonna love this!! I know I do!
THIS CD IS PHENOMINAL
author: KerryTOO BAD THERE'S ONLY 5 STARS HERE, BECAUSE THIS CD DESERVES 50... YOU CAN TELL ALOT OF WORK WENT INTO THE WRITING AND SINGING, AND EVEN MUSICIANSHIP ON THIS CD, ITS ONE OF THE, IF NOT THE BEST WESTERN INFLUENCED CD'S I'VE EVER HEARD, I LISTEN TO IT ALL THE TIME... I ESPECIALLY LOVE TWILIGHT SERENADE AND CATTLE CALL...
